My wonderful mother has fixed it so I cant run any chat programs or go into ANY chatroom. I can understand if I was, you know, 13 or something, but Im not! And theres no hope of getting my computer fixed anytime soon. :Grrr:

Do you live with your mother? If so, not much you can do about it....if not....we got a MAJOR problem...:sowrong:

Lime, you've always struck me as someone who had no problems taking care of herself.

'course, I've never been a Mom and probably never will be.

and I see chatrooms as a runaway blabfest where nobody really reads or learns anything.

message boards like this are better.

Lime, you seriously need to question whether your individual freedom is worth more than a roof to live under. You've only got one freedom, but there are plenty of roofs in the world, even if most of them are a bit more expensive.

I'll second that, assuming that you're old enough...

...to move out and make it on your own, that is. You obviously need to spread your wings and get out from under Mom's thumb.

OK, This makes me sound more like my mother than ever before....but...
with all due respect......

My wonderful mother has fixed it so I cant run any chat programs or go into ANY chatroom. I can understand if I was, you know, 13 or something *snip* Technically she bought it for me.

If you feel like you have needs that are being restricted by your mommy, then what you need is to provide for your own security that requires respect of only YOUR wishes. That means providing you own roof, meals, insurance, clothes, education, and last but not least, your own computer among other things. Now perhaps your situation is different and you are standing the role of the parent to an invalid mother, but it doesn't sound like that's the case. Time for girly to pack a bag it sounds like to me.

Or maybe abide by mom's wishes with a little more respect.
And that's just my opinion.
Jo, mother of one

Just out of curiousity... you seem to have posted about similar things before too... but have had the chance to have a chance to calmly ask your parents about the level of protection they seem to be providing (enforcing) on you? And perhaps have you ever actually given them a reason not to trust you with a burnt match?

Talking can always be good... just so long as it doens't get too outta hand.

Well, parents are overprotective these days about the risks that are involved using the internet. Yesterday, my mum showed me an article these men who met up through the internet because they have his thing for cannibalism, as well as getting eaten themselves, and one ended up getting eaten altogether (I won't go into the article too much as it's very sick). Proof positive that mums are usually compulsive worriers. Personally, your mum needs to relax. She should know you're strong enough to look after yourself. That said, if you are overdoing chats, then maybe you should make a compromise with her.

Oh, and another suggestion. Try bashing and smaashing a useless, inanimate object with a hammer or something. You are a bit peeved Lime, so let off some steam!

She jsut believes that AIM and AOL are the root of all computer problems, caught her looking at some bsdm sites a couple days ago, so now Im getting lax on hiding the tickling stuff

I would personally say that Microsoft is the root of all computer problems... but I use a Macintosh... and thats often enough for semi techno nerds to wanna disagree with me (complete techno nerds accept that there are heaps of things that Macintoshes are heaps better at...) but lets not get into that...

I have a cousin who works in the computer industry, in Seattle, and he agrees with you, Pianist. He refers to Microsoft as "The Borg," and claims their motto should be "resistance is futile; you will be assimilated."
