A couple friend of mine who unfortunatly are AOL users, who will learn hopefully sooner than later, that AOL has a real hard time with HTML attachments. Actually in most if not all cases, does not accept HTML attachments.
I had insturcted them to contact AOL and find out why and if some day HTML will be accepted. (I use Broadband Cable).

AOL sent her an 8 page documentary/transcript on how to program your AOL ISP to recognize and accept html.

I have seen the transcripts and blue prints for the Space Shuttle that were easier.

It costs too much also. I have Juno for only 9.99 a month. (They told me they would give me fourty dollors if I convinced some one to join)

That should be one of the easiest tasks you have ever had to face my friend.

I for one could not be convinced to give up Broadband Cable.

Way too fast. Going back to dial up would be like traveling to Florida via Austrailia!

I finally convinced a close friend of mine to give up AOL, went to the store, bought her a wireless router to hook her and her friend upstairs who already has a cable modem together. BAM, it was done. She was like wow...and its a bit slower on a wireless router then direct but many many times faster then AOL dialup.

I have been on Broadband for about 2 years now...could not live without it.

I use AOL. Its done me proud during the time I've used it, and the amount I pay doesn't seem to bad consifering the time I spend on the net.

Of course, I'm on a 56k dialup so it should cost a pittance, but if anyone out the're knows where I can get a cheaper service give ,e a yell lol...

My AOL Rant...

Many years ago, I tried AOL on a free trial basis. Not only was the service way slow, even for dialup, but the connections would frequently die on me. Fortunately, I canceled my account in time to not pay a dime. I used a free dialup ISP until cable modems came to my area, and I have been happy ever since. Every now and again, I get those AOL discs in the mail. Since they are useless, I smash them to pieces! After I do I always feel a lot better. Thanks for listening, and f*** AOL! 😀

AMK, your experience is fairly typical of what most people have told me about AOL. Whe I'm talking in IM with someone who suddenly dissappears and logs back in several times, I say "AOL?" and they always say "yes" ... except when they say "MSN," which seems to be almost as bad.

Admiral, CompuServe offers a plan for $199 a year if you pre-pay the year's fee. The regular fee is $21.95/month, so you'd save $65, and even more vs. AOL. The service is somewhat better than AOL, but the same company now owns it.

Luv,

Back to the original point of the thread, I wouldn't be too concerned about not getting HTML attachments. A lot of the new viruses use malicous HTML code to infect your computer. You don't even need to open an attachment, simply viewing the message will infect your system.
