Okay there was this girl and she sent a nude picture of herself to her bf.He ended up showing it to all his friends and they made fun of her.Calling her skank,***** etc.So,this goes on and on and on despite calls to the school's administration.Eventually she can't take it and hangs herself in her room.
Now the distraught parents are suing the one who sent it,all who viewed and harassed her and I' not sure about the administration.
My question is should the parents win their lawsuit?

There's a lot going on here - status of women issues (read: the status of women in this day and age ain't that great), double standards (if the girl had sent a photo of the boy to her female friends, the outcome doubtlessly would have been far different), bullying (WHY do adults still act like criminal behavior on the part of kids is no big deal?) and attitudes toward female sexuality that are only slightly ahead of 17th-century America.

But to answer the question, yes, I think the parents are totally in the right. If nothing else the school was negligent for not stopping the bullying.

Yes they should, and I think the bf deserves to have his teeth knocked down his throat for showing it to anyone else in the first place.

Depending on how old she is, it could have been child pornography just by her taking the picture herself, another count because she sent it to her boyfriend.

Honestly, I don't feel sorry for her. Maybe that's cold, but there are worse things in life than being embarrassed at school for a few weeks. It's no reason to kill yourself.

Unfortunately, this is becomming more common. It's called "sexting".

The school had the obligation to protect the girl as a student. They didn't.

As for the boyfriend, I don't know if it would be "child pornography" if he didn't take the pics himself. She took them and then sent it out.

Right now, her memory needs to be made an example out of. Let other young girls realize what can happen if they do this stuff, and maybe rethink it.

Yeah true its happening alot i know my friends brother who is 14 knows this girl who sent him a picture of her boobs to his phone. and she is 13 my friend was looking at his pictures on his phone because he said he took some pictures of her when she was sleeping. and she was showing me them then she turned the picture and thats what came up. and she said who the hell is that and he said it was this girl that he knows and he said she sends pictures like that to every boy she knows.
so i don't know thats not good to do that the same thing could happen to her everyone calls her a ***** already so i don't know whats wrong with kids today.

There are a zillion privacy and safety issues to consider here. If the fucking media weren't making such a circus out of "sexting" (and if the abstinence crowd didn't see it as an opportunity to wedge their agenda in through the back door), then we might see some common-sense precautions about what and what not to send in a text message taught in schools.

I'm going to have to agree with Annie on this one. She chose to send a naked picture of herself to a boy - one not finished with puberty. She herself was young, but she should have realized the consequences of such an extreme action. There shouldn't be a lawsuit in the first place because stupidity is so common among human beings as it is, you're going to end up with stupid teenagers regardless of how they were raised.
