You love life..

I love life because being dead is boring. All you can do is lay there in that coffin (or be carried by wind if you got cremated), and they don't even let you bring your laptop there.

Its been almost three years, she gave me a dead line on knowing wether or not i want to marry her by december. I feel in my gut its not going to happen. But i really dont want to hurt her. Its not like she has done anything wrong, she would do anything for me if i asked.

My sympathies for your situation Mr. S.

For the most part I tolerate life. It's one of those annoying little things I never asked to deal with but it's there so what can you do. I can't see how being dead would be boring, since to be bored you would have to have some sort of drive to be entertained which, as far as I can possibly be aware at this point, requires consciousness. If the body died and consciousness lived on, that would be a fantastic wallop in the goulies.

I once read through the standard list of arguments against suicide, covering all beliefs of what may happen after you die. It seems humans have a hard time grasping non-existence of self, and I have to admit if I think about it for a little while I can't really wrap my head around it. But it couldn't possibly be unpleasant, as you wouldn't even be around to make that assessment. All we know, have ever known and ever will know as human beings is what we experience. So if life doesn't suit you all that well take heart, it won't last forever. That, in my opinion, is the best thing about it.

ah the thing about suicide...once you've done it..there's no going back..

But when you succeed at suicide, you become an hero! :death:

Seriously, there's tons to love about life. We as humans get distracted and lose perspective is all. Sometimes, you've gotta hit rock bottom to really appreciate the gift. Trust me. Been there.

I wouldn't say I love life. But it's ok. Whenever I think of life/death makes me think of the lyrics of one of Robbie Williams' songs..... "I don't wanna die, but I ain't keen on living either." I've thought about killing myself because I don't like myself but I know I would miss my friends and family too much...so I carry on to be with them.
As CrazyLikeAFox said, life doesn't last forever therefore you just gotta make the most of it. Who knows what it round the corner.

Firstly, a pox on you for defiling my sacred name by putting spaces between the words, and secondly I never meant to suggest that people should make the most of life. Life is like visiting the dentist. You go in scared and unsure of what to expect, most of it is seemingly pointless agony but it's over before you know it. You go home assuming that something was accomplished through the ordeal but we all know better. It's just a conspiracy to sell more toothpaste and other dental hygeine products.

I think it may have been a mistake evolving to become this intelligent; now we're all smart enough to understand our mortality too well. From a biological stand-point, life exists simply because time has engineered it to be very good at surviving.

I'm sorry I just went space happy I guess.

Also I'm sorry how I wrote that; it came across wrong.... I meant that I was agreeing with you that life is short. But then went on to my own opinion by saying that we should make the most of it. Yeah I suck at expressing my opinions :cry

Life is like my vaccuum cleaner. It sucks... :wfrown (<<< Emo)

I'll be over here, writting depressing metaphors about love and how it's cutting my heart into pieces, frying it in my tears and feeding it to the puppies of sadness... and then papercutting my wrists with that poem.

:hang:

... Just so you know, I'm kidding. 😛

Phew thank goodness for that....I was just about to call the Samaritans for you 😉

it's okay TickleFan 🙂 no,need to be upset.

I wouldn't mind life so much if the ultimate hadn't added jerks to the mixing pot under the pretenses of "just to make things interesting".

Your tone really explains why you seem to hate everything I say. :lol

I put a cold, scientific spin on life; except I love life, especially mine! Granted, I don't think some great cosmic sky-father created this universe, or life. If anything, this adds to it's beauty and accidental elegance. Life is like..nothing you can compare it to, because it's a unique experience for everyone. Beautiful for some. It has been for me. Mistake or no, evolving intelligence has given us a wonderful opportunity. We must capitalize on it and make every use of it. We're not "just life".

As Carl Sagan put it, we are a way for the cosmos to know itself.

To me, nothing is more beautiful. 🙂

:stickout Get ready for some serious nerding:

I find that many people are capable of enjoying life. "Life" or "reality" is just a word to describe this construct (the universe) we perceive with our limited (but surprisingly appreciative; if only by our own standards) senses. These all link up to your brain. Control the brain, control your reality. I see a vast, cold, uncaring (yet beautiful!) universe that lies beyond the atmosphere of our seemingly tiny planet. But I see on that tiny planet, an amazing group of creatures that has thrived for thousands of years, built civilizations, and put themselves into space. I also see us having a bright future. 🙂

I think if society took away your internet, t.v., air conditioning, heating, and indoor plumbing (along with any mode of transportation you had other than your own two feet) then you MIGHT start hating life PS.

I'm glad you have alot of hope and love for life and view it as wonderful...it is wonderful...at least for those it hasn't been cruel too.

So we're clear, I'm talking about life as an experience and not simply spiralling coils of self-replicating DNA (thank you Mr. Python). That portion of life is as beautiful as it is hideous, pleasant as it is painful, rocky as it is smooth and fizzy as it is one of those drinks that's sort of nice and has the flavour you were looking for but the whole time you're sipping it down you can't help but wish it had bubbles because you know it just adds that much more to the refreshment value. There are those lucky few who manage to steer clear of such beverages, but for some of us we can only look forward to the coffee and after-dinner mint that follows. And if you're not a coffee-drinker, well then you're pretty much screwed.

Yes, I am very familiar with moving the goalpost when you've been beaten. XD
