There were so many wacky things on that show, Bella. One in particular when they went to the launderette, and the washing machine kept refusing their grungy clothes. And since they don't have enough for detergent, Neal takes "all the horrid leftover bits" from the other washing machines. At this point he proceeds to taste some of the bits.

I remember that one. It's episode 1 of series 2 (I know, I'm a walking mine of useless information! 🙁) and it's called "Bambi". As they walk into the laundrette with their laundry bags with green fumes coming out of them; Vyvyan realises that he's left a pair of underpants outside on the pavement. (Sidewalk for those of you who don't speak proper English. 😛) He leans out the door, hooks a finger and hollers "Oy!" Whereupon the underpants walk into the building on their own. Ewwwwww...........

MY personal favourite is when Neil gets angry in "Summer Holiday" and turns into The Incredible Hulk. That and Vyv's antics with his cricket bat.

Rick: (After Vyv whcks him in the nuts with said sporting item) Ha ha! Missed both my legs!

That's right, and Vyv in a moment of ticklers genius turned up for the robbery wearing a pair of stocks on his head because he misheard Mike when he told them all to wear stockings on their heads.

And Mike's cool response when Rik and Vyv complain about not being able to shoot anyone.

"We can't shoot anyone guys. If we do there's a very slight chance that they'll find out that they're water pistols!"

Favorite Young Ones Bit #1:

In the middle of a sketch, the action freezes and the camera zooms in on a box on the closet shelf in the background. The box is actually a puppet with an articulated lid.

Box: "Don't look at me! I'm irrelevant!"

The camera zooms back out to its original position and the action resumes.

Favorite Young Ones Bit #2:

Mike comes downstairs angrily, while Vyvyan reads on the couch.

Mike: "What's the fish doing in my bed?"
Vyv, not even looking up: "What fish, Mike?"
Mike pauses, then goes back upstairs: "Right. Right."

A little later, Mike returns holding a tuna fish (or possibly a sea bass, I'm no ichthyologist or anything...) nearly as big as he is.

Mike: "Right. Now, what's this fish doing in my bed?"
Vyv, again not even looking up from his task (I believe he was about to do violence to Neal): "That fish isn't in your bed, Mike."
Mike blinks at Vyv's flawless logic, then returns upstairs, fish in hand: "Right! Right!"

Even later, Mike drags Vyv, Rik, and Neal into his room bodily, showing them the large fish tucked in beneath the covers with care.

Mike, with an air if triumph: "Right! Now, what's this fish doing in my bed?"
Vyv, pointing out the bleedin' obvious: "Well, you just put it there now, didn't you Mike?"

Does anyone know if it's being shown on any American channel? I'm in Southern California, and I have Time Warner Cable (just basic, no digital). I've never seen this show, and I want to watch it to see what I'm missing! 😀

That was..............***bzzzzzz whirrrrrrrr click bang!!!*** Episode 5, series 2, "sick". (The episode where Neil keeps sneezing and firing jets of snot across the room.) Vyv also batters Rick in the head with a floorboard if memory serves me correctly.😀

It's no longer on t.v. as far as I know, Alex. I used to watch it on MTV back in the 80s. But all the episodes are available on DVD and you can probably find some on VHS.

Another favorite bit, Neal getting ready for his exam:

"I took out my polos and my support gunk and more polos and more gunk and lead for my retractable pencil and my retractable pencil and more polos and more gunk........next thing I knew the teacher told us to put our pencils down!"
