If you could get a band together with any player from any band, past or present, what would your line-up be?

One stipulation...only ONE member from any given band. So there goes my Rush rhythm section, but oh well.

Here's who I'd like to see...

Lead Vocals - Steve Perry (Journey) Simply THE voice.

Guitars - Gary Richrath (REO Speedwagon) and Rik Emmitt (Triumph). Gary can do all those heart-wrenching "feel" solos and Rik can play in just about any genre from classical to metal.

Bass Guitar - Geddy Lee (Rush) - is there really anyone else?

Keyboards - Kieth Emerson (ELP) - simply the Master.

Drums - Bill Bruford (Yes) - Well, Neil Peart and Carl Palmer were in bands I'd already selected, so Bill fits the slot alongside these progressive drummers.

Harmonica, Sax and other reed instruments - Magic Dick (J.Geils Band) - He plays a lot of extranious instruments, plus anyone with a name like "Magic Dick" has GOT to be in this band.

What about you guys?

Dream band, eh?

Vocals- The guy from yes (Anderson)

Guitars- Edward Van Halen AND Joe Satriani

Bass- Jaco Pastorious (Weather Report) He WAS the man!

Drums- Bobby Blotzer (RATT). I'd normally say Neil Peart, But I couldn't imagine him with anyone but RUSH, and Bobby is the most underrated drummer in rock... should have seen him live in RATT's heyday!

Keyboards/Piano- Billy Joel, a master of technique.

Harmonica- John Popper (Blues Traveller)

Brass- ANY 5 of the great Jazz players, but must include Dizzy and Satchmo!

lemme see...

I'll go to war with :

Jimi Hendrix, Cher, Roy Haynes, and Stevie Ray, backed up by "Tricky Sam" Nanton and Juan Tizol. But, that's just me...lol.

Billy Joel???????!!!!!!!!

Master of technique? at what? syncronised swimming maybe!

RE: Billy Joel

Pick up the sheet music for some of the older albums sometime. The 10 finger stuff challenges even skilled players... glad I picked up the guitar instead😀

Here's mine:

Vocals: Geoff Tate (Queensryche)-that guy has the widest vocal range I have ever heard.

Guitars: Steve Vai and Joe Satriani- I saw them together on the G3 tour, but imagine what they could do if they collaborated on a song.

Bass: Flea- he plays that thing like it's a weapon.

Drums: Mike Borden (Faith No More, currently touring with Ozzy)- Totally underated drummer.

Keys: Mike Keneally (Touring with Steve Vai, was the last guitarist to tour with Frank Zappa)- Amzing keyboardist and can back up guitars for really intricate parts.

My choice for a "superband":

Lead vocals: Steve Marriott(from Humble Pie)
Lead Guitar: Rory Gallagher or Stevie Ray Vaughan
Bass: Jack Bruce(Cream)
Keyboards and Piano: Ken Hensley(Uriah Heep)
Drums: Barriemore Barlow(Jethro Tull-from the mid 70s line-up)

Stolen!

hey...he can't be playing for Ann! Stevies already in my band! Q

Ok Q, I'll take Stevie Ray out of my band and replace him with Alvin Lee.

Funny

Well...that's who I was going to sit with at this Super Band concert, but if ya need him, ya need him! Thanks Drew/Ann... Q

Qjakal! Tricky Sam Nanton and Juan Tizol!!! All right!!! (you've got to put in Lawrence Brown as well to complete the section!)

And Barriemore Barlow, Tickling Duo! Yes!

This place never ceases to amaze me! I'll have to think on this one and post my own list.

My tastes are a bit odd, but I still think this could work:

Enya on Lead Vocals

David Lanz on Acoustic Piano

Edgar Froese and Christopher Franke (of Tangerine Dream) on Electronic Keyboards & Percussion

Andreas Vollenweider on Electric and Acoustic Harp

Kitaro on Traditional Ethnic Asian Instruments

Patrick O'Hearn on Bass Guitar

backed up by the London Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Scottish National Choir.

It could be billed as the "Monsters of New Age" tour:blaugh:

jim morrison (the doors)and paul stanley (kiss) tag team vocals
ace frehley (kiss) lead guitar
izzy stradlin (guns n roses) guitar
ray manzarek (the doors) keyboard/piano
flea (red hot chili peppers) bass
john densmore (the doors) drums

Dave...this is one of the hardest questions I have come accross!!! LOL
Let me think here....hmmmmmmmm...ok...here goes...but I will probably change my mind as soon as I hit post!

Guitars: Eddie Van Halen & Joe Satriani

Keyboards: Paul Schaffer (David Letterman Band)

Bass: John Paul Jones (Led Zepplin)

Drums: Tommy Aldridge (last toured with Ted Nugent)

Vocals: Steven Tyler (Aerosmith) / Bon Scott (AC/DC)
