For me it's

1. Sleepaway Camp aka ''Nightmare Vacation''

All of the sleepaway camp films are great cheese! 😉 i still need to own the sleepaway camp survival kit dvd box set

2. Killer Klowns From Outer Space ''In space no one can eat ice cream''

3
. Stephen King's Maximum Overdrive

4
. Class of Nuk'em High Tromaville

5
. Night of The Creeps

I could have named off more but that's the thread title so i will only stick with 5.

The 80's is full and full of cheesy so bad that it's ''good'' movies. I only named off horror movies for myself since i'm big into horror :bouncy:

But you don't have to name off your
Top 5 List as horror movies. It can be anything from any movie genre as long as it's from the 80's.

1) Empire Strikes Back - It gets in by the skin of its teeth, but it's 80s

2) Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan - Beyond the darkness. Beyond the human evolution is Khan. A genetically superior tyrant.

3) Short Circuit 2 - Sure, it's the "cheap" sequel, but it's so much more fun than the first

4) Ghostbusters 2 - Again, to me, way more fun, and it's the one I saw in the theaters in '89

5) Back to the Future - Who doesn't?

OK... Top 5 80's:
(In no particular order)

Clue - Great ensemble cast, best movie Mel Brooks movie not officially a Mel Brooks movie.

Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan - The scene where the Enterprise first meets up with Khan's Reliant... classic

Wargames - The Cold War, computers, Allie Sheedy

Clash of the Titans - Yeah they butchered all the myths to make it work, but it was so cool.

Escape From New York - The music was awesome and Kurt Russell kicked ass.

Time Bandits - Time Travelling little people, does it get any better thna that?

My Top 5 80s movies... yep. :bouncy:

3. Killer Klowns- That movie was scary and funny all at once.

4. Back to the future-Still upset they took the ride off of Universal.

5.Ghostbusters 2- I preferred the first one more, but the sequel was still all types of awesome.

Staying Alive (1983)

Im surprised to see someone mention this one as a fave..I have mixed emotions on this one, in my opinion, the soundtrack album was 4 stars (an album I can listen to from start to finish - with ease!) and the movie was about 2 stars looking at it as a supposed to be sequel (taking the original R rated charactor of the first and dimming him to PG with only a few references to the original).

But as a film and story on its own, if it had been slightly rewritten and not a sequel, I woulda gave it a 4 stars as an enjoyable early 80s film with a great pop/rock soundtrack carrying the storyline perfectly. Ive seen it several times since the 80s i'll admit..its one on my list to eventually get on DVD..a must have.

NeverEnding Story (1984)

I couldn't keep it to just 5. Luckily, this is all I could think of for now...

I could have easily expanded my list far beyond 5 as well.

The Never Ending Story
The Dark Crystal
The Secret of NIMH

All would have been included on my list as well. Those were great movies when I was growing up.

1. Shawshank Redemption....my all time favorite movie..

2. Terminator Two...Judgement Day...

3. Die Hard... wowow love the villain

4. Top Gun...full of action and whatnot..

5. The Lady In White....a true ghost story...and not a slasher..

I totally agree with this choice. I never understood all the bitching about how it sucked. I loved that movie. It was very novel for its time. :bluestar:

Me neither. I thought it was great. There are rumors they are working on a sequel.
