Yvonne Craig, RIP

I've just now learned that breast cancer has taken an early childhood TV crush away. Celebrities pass away often in the news, but as for Yvonne Craig, this hits home.

Best known as Batgirl in the final season of the wildly popular TV show Batman, Yvonne had built a TV and Movie resume, that included a part in Kissin' Cousins with Elvis, and Trek fans know her as the doomed Marta, the Orion slave girl, who almost plunged a dagger into Kirk in "Whom Gods Destroy."

She'll also be remembered for the on-screen predicaments as the "third crusader", including one scene she is subjected to a pattern cutting buzzsaw at the hands of Catwoman, and a tape-gagged face in "The Man From UNCLE". She ranks with Linda Stirling and other Damsels in Distress for giving life to our artistic influences.

My memories of Yvonne are happy ones today.
