Hello all you fine people! I sure hope this blog finds you all well and happy!
Thought I would share a little something with you all! I spent part of my morning out with my father! I do not spend enough time with him because my life has been very busy as of late! We went to a book store and out to eat! had a blast! He told me some stories I had never heard before, about his childhood as well as his early days with my Mom!
I have always enjoyed listening to older people talk about their lives! Where they have been, what they have done ect.....
We young people could learn a thing or two if we just open our ears and listen! So many great stories get left untold! I find it almost sad! History never being known or passed down! Reach out to someone older than you today! Aske them about their childhood! Ask there if they have traveled! Get to know more about a person than what you see sitting before you! It is so important!
As he sat there thinking,
About days gone by!
I could see the past times
shining in his eyes!
He looked at me and smiled
Said "son I have to say.
Many things have come and gone
Many things still to come my way!
He said, "Son I have had a life
Seen trouble I've seen pain.
I have seen many things
The sunshine and the rain!
My life is now a handful
of years left to be
But today is important
Because you are here with me!"
I looked at him fondly
He had a familiar glow
I asked him to tell me
What indeed he did know!
He told me about the railroad
Working hard out in the sun
He told me all about
The race he almost won!
He said "Then I met your mother
She as a beauty to behold!
Our love began that New Years eve
And grew stronger as we grew old!
I miss her son and love her still
And will till my dying day.
God will bring me back to her
And with her I will always stay!"
"Dad I love and admire you
You are an inspiration to me,
A man of love and a heart of wealth
It's all I can hope to be!
Please tell me more about you
Of past days and past lives
While I sit and write your words
Of happiness. of sadness and of time!"
As I close, please enjoy this song! Good night and see you all next week!
