one of the things that I like to observe is how people acknowledge each other as they walk down the street.
sometimes people do a really good job at staying out of people's way, and sometimes they don't do as good of a job. this is because many out there decided that it would be a better idea not to look in front of them, but rather to look down at the ground or at a wall. whatever it takes to avoid making eye contact. <six points from blues> so for the last few years I have made it my mission to make eye contact with those who have been walking next to me, or past me, or my professors. some people like it, most people seem to find it a little uncomfortable. when I'm dressed nicely, more people smile when I smile at them, but that's just an observation.
some people decide to nod their head, but there is a difference here as well. there is the upward head nod, which is more of a youthful occurrence, which we see amongst people with similar skin colors. then there is the downward head nod, which I have always considered a sign of respect or acknowledgment to someone you don't know.
regardless of my observations, I'm sure everyone else sees these relationships too, but I focus on them all the time. relationship to tickling? not really any here yet. but I will say that at NEST, I will be the one who you think is staring at you. but don't worry, I'm just a scientist.
