And It Hit The Fan...

Oh, wow. I'm in a bit of a daze right now. It's a long story, so I better just come out and say it. See, on Christmas Day I was over at my aunt's house, right? And...we had dinner, my nose became stuffy, and then we started playing board games. And...well...my aunt brought out this wine and my uncle said something like, "Oh, is that the wine made by those two lesbians?" He then proceeded to go off into a rant about homosexuality being a sick, perverse sin and basically equating it to murder. Being a closeted lesbian I wasn't gonna take that sitting down, so I debated with him about the subject when he started using the 7 Clobber Passages from the Bible (the verses most commonly used to bash homosexuals). The argument was so heated that tears started to pour down my eyes. I mean, this was my uncle...he's done a few nice things to me in the past. I thought he was proud of me because I was an avid reader and a lover of C.S. Lewis. He even gave me two gorgeous books from the Folio Society all the way from the UK (The Wind in the Willows and A Traveler's Christmas). So it cut to the bone to hear him say that me being attracted to women is the same thing as taking someone's life. And he just kept coming at me, too!! Even though I was bawling, he wouldn't stop arguing with me on the matter. My mom had to take me to the bathroom to calm me down and tell me that what I saw was my uncle's true nature: an arrogant, immature bully. She said that he didn't even care about listening to my side of the argument, all he cared about was being right and acting as if he knows the mind of God. :dropatear

My mom and I are surprised that he didn't even apologize for bringing me to tears. A 56 year old man relentlessly attacking an 18 year old...

But the good news is that my mom just talked on the phone to my memmaw and told her the real reason why I was so upset on Christmas and, oddly enough, she's okay with it. O___O I'm just completely shocked. Someone as old-fashioned as my grandma said that she won't reject for being gay or think any different of me because of it. She also told Mom that my uncle would not have said those things about homosexuals if he knew that I was one myself.

So, yeah...I'm still in a bit of a daze. Too bad my other aunt (the bigoted one) will know about this. Word travels like a forest fire in my family, so it looks I'll be out to everyone pretty soon. =/

OH yeah...my iTunes library screwed up on me. 🙁 So now I have to go back and add all the music files that were erased. And I've just realized yesterday that my music isn't even organized on my computer, so I'm gonna have to spend the next few days organizing my mp3 files and reorganize my iTunes library. :doh:

Overall, I had a very nice Christmas Eve...Christmas Day, not so much. But I'm not gonna whine about it cuz I have a Snuggie. >:3
