Why is it that when I’m composing a comment on the forum, particularly if it’s reasonably serious in tone, I will read the words back before hitting the ‘submit’ button and think to myself, “Yeah, that seems OK, seems to articulate what I was thinking”, but practically the minute it’s actually up on the forum I’ll read it back and think, “God! you’re such a pretentious twatface!” lol It’s very annoying.
Thing is, when I’m communicating through written word, whatever the context might be, I like to express myself as accurately as possible. But I think I try too hard – with the result that I sometimes wind up sounding like someone who’s trying to appear cleverer than they really are. Like a smug professor or something! Makes me cringe.
But it’s not all bad, I suppose. I mean, if I’m aware that I sometimes sound like a pretentious twatface, then I can’t be a proper pretentious twatface. Cos a real, I mean bona fide, pretentious twatface would be acting like a pretentious twatface all the time, so he wouldn’t have the means to be able to take a step back and recognize his own pretentious twatfacedness (the pretentious twatface!).
So my hope is that the next time I’m trying to make a serious point, I’ll think of this blog entry, and that will prompt me to rid my comment of any pretentiousness before it makes its way onto the forum.
Note: Pretentious twatface personality disorder affects 1 in 26 people. So if you don’t know one, it’s probably you.
Cheeyers. 🙂
