Aunt R, Mitch, and Aunt R's friend endured an adventure on our journey to Aunt E's funeral yesterday.
When we got to the Port Authority, we missed one bus as it was leaving the station.
Another bus did not come for .. an hour.
I called the Rabbi who was officiaiating, who was extremely understanding, but told us that he had a time limit , as a result of him having to be in Temple for the Sabbath Services.
Finally we got to the town where Aunt E is buried.
Then, we could not find transportation to the cemetery. Aunt R has a bad knee.
Luckily, the funeral director generously called us a cab.
There was an emotional , brief service. I cried a bit. Aunt E had no offspring. I was like her son, and she was like my second mother. I know that Aunt E really loved me. With my own mother now being gone for almost 11 years. We had a mother figure, surrogate son relationship.
To make our lives easier, the funeral director drove us to a bus stop in Hackensack, a much more brief ride, and a straight express ride to Port Authority, where we took the bus into the city, and then went out to an early dinner, before I staggered home.
The long, emotional week is over. Aunt E is now laid to rest in Elmwood Park NJ. Aunt E is at peace.
For Mitch, is has been a very emotion filled week complete with funeral arrangements, . memories, and a heavy heart
A person who is very close to me, always says "Cherish the Memories" when someone you love passes away.
I have many memories with Aunt E,. Aunt E taught me about Astrology.
Rest In Peace, my loving Aunt. I hope you are happy at peace and in Heaven, with my mother, and your parents/my grandparents
