When men see Halle Berry or Angelina Jolie or Tyra Banks, pretty much every guy will agree that they're beautiful. And I agree that they are. 😀
But Hollywood and the culture we live in have created an ideal for beauty that is unattainable and incredibly unhealthy for girls. Boys aren't hit as hard as girls. Girls are bombarded with images on TV, movies, magazines of women who are deemed beautiful, sexy, gorgeous and being anything less than that means you're ugly. You have to have the perfect hair, the perfect make-up, the perfect WEIGHT.
I have no problems with women wanting to lose weight in order to be healthy. That's something I'm working on and it's a struggle. But it's the "thin is beautiful" mentality that does more harm than good which is mainly pushed by models who have to be stick thin in order to fit into the ridiculously small clothes that designers create.
Wanna see the proof of the unhealthy obsession with being super skinny?
Last month that pic circulated the web and it caused an uproar. I'm sure it'll eventually get buried and forgotten, but it's a fine example of how fucked up this obsession is. Do you see it? Her head is bigger than her hips!
Then of course there are magazines like Ok! that praises quick weight losses such as Jessica Simpson's sudden weight loss, 10 pounds in 10 days (which was faked).
It's because of images like that that makes me appreciate and love the commercials for Dove and Playtex. They use real women. Women who are full figured and have curves. Curves!

Those women are sexy and beautiful because they're real. We need more commercials and movies and TV shows that show real women who look healthy and not like that they might break a bone at any second. 🙄
We need more ads, TV shows, movies, magazines that show real women, who promote a more attainable and healthier ideal of beauty. Some movies and shows are starting to do that, such as Hairspray and Drop Dead Diva, both having a main star who's a BBW.
They're like small beacons lighting the way, showing that beauty comes in all shapes and sizes. Maybe, just maybe, the unhealthy, unattainable ideal of beauty can be replaced with a more healthy one.
Huh, I was gonna use this blog to show what I find sexy and beautiful, but it turned into this. Lol. 😀
