This is a new segment of my blog that I have decided to call Carsomyr Contemplates. 😀 Here I just rant about, uh, pretty much anything really... First out is Walt Disney's:
Der Fuehrer's Face

Ya know... people talk about how todays youth watches detrimental TV-shows like South Park and Family Guy, but seriously, at least those aren't fucking CHILDREN'S SHOWS! Clearly the past youth was just as badass as us, if not moreso, considering the fact that my generation might very well sit around and laugh at infantile jokes about genitals, but in the 1940's it was perfectly alright to subject CHILDREN to a cartoon like this.
If you are too lazy to watch the youtube-clip above, here's a summary:
Donald Duck - every childs hero and role model - is a Nazi. We encounter several political characters and references that modern-day kids wouldn't be able to make heads or tails of, but what we DO understand is that Nazi's can be pretty funny.
After Donald is sent to work at the factory with a couple of bayonetts aimed at him (hey, that's no worse than Scrooge McDuck treats him most of the time) he eventually has a bad acid trip somewhere around 06:30 into the clip. I tell you, I would have gotten nightmares from that if I was a kid, and I didn't even flinch at that blood-filled elevator in The Shining when I watched it as a 5-year-old. Anyway, it then turns out that Donald was just sleeping all this time, and he has enough American flags in his bedroom to be working for Fox News. The End.
I find it rather amusing that it's not ok for todays teenagers to watch South Park, but it was totally ok to watch stuff like this in the past. Don't get me wrong, I find this cartoon hillarious, and I think it's a big shame that it has recently been banned in Sweden (go figure). It just pisses me off that there are a lot of members of the older generation (not all of them, but many) that has an unfounded hate for young people, and they are judging us from above. Looking at my own society, it is not amongst "adults" that equality between men and women, gay rights, etc are considered so profoundly important for a healthy society that they are non-issues. That is only the mentality of my own generation. I can tell you, young people are anything BUT apathetic and selfish, and once we take over the reins in the future I promise you that things will change for the BETTER!
I give "Der Fuehrer's Face" 4 heiling ducks out of 5, but I think some of the jokes would have worked better if they had made fun of Communists.
