As of recently I have made some widespread attempts to expand my social network. I still haven't quite figured out what sparked this impulse, but over the past week I've really opened my mind to anyone and anything. I don't want to say I've become bored of those around me, but I am growing tire of the same routine...
I've never been nervous or scared to try and meet new people, but I've noticed it's pretty challenging to keep others interested in keeping contact. College in particular is where it can get frustrating, everyone wants to stay focused and keep their eye on the ball. I do understand completely that college should be taken seriously, but I've noticed several individuals are always on the go. They take so may classes that they never grant themselves any down time or hardly any time to focus on other activities. Let me say now, that this impression is based strictly on observation and I hold no animosity to these individuals. I've just had to be very selective of whom I approach so as I don't appear to be a nuisance. I grew up being to advised to go to college and enjoy it as much as I can, and this is what I've tried very hard to do. I went into the game with two main goals: 1) Give 100% in class and learn as much as I could. 2) Branch out and meet new friends, and learn more about myself in the process. I've done fairly well balancing these goals but recently things have become dull, which lead to my recent increase in branching out.
I still attempt to meet others while on campus, but while at home, or even at work, I've talked to whoever was willing to give me the time. I will say here and now that social networking sites such as Facebook are becoming nothing more than background noise to me. This site in particular was never a ht spot for conversation to me in the past. I would visit, comment on some videos, spend a little time in the chat room, and on rare occasions, would meet someone interesting. Recently however, I've looked into the Personals and Pen Pal forums in the hopes of connecting with others who share my interests. It's all a game of patience to see if anyone wants to contact me in return now.
Well, this little blog served it's purpose to me. I always like getting my thoughts down on paper( digital or not) and if you've take the time to read it, I thank you. I'm positive that I'm not the only one thinking this way, and I have high hopes that my recent endeavors will lead to positive results.
