For the last year I have taken on the role as a kind of teacher's helper for Cettorpes. To those who don't know her, she is an English teacher in Hungary for a small mountain school somewhere near Budapest. When I first started talking to her I couldn't help but think that I was corresponding with a female Borat. I mean, her way of speaking English was almost stereo-typical and quite amusing at first. She explained to me that before the communists lost control of the country they wanted no outside influences contacting the people there but now with the new found democracy they want to know everything. So her questions to me came fast and furious with a hunger to know the meaning of even our most mundane phrases. With the help of Yahoo IM and a microphone she is now becoming an English teacher who is understanding how we really speak and is going for her Masters degree in English.
So my assignment in this is to not only explain the meanings of words at the spur of the moment but she also sent me a list of 37 topics to dicuss so she could use them to help teach her students English and our way of life. Big assignment for a dumbass like me.I had to explain Occupations, Weather, Traffic, Great Britain, Science and technology......you know, all those things that I am an expert in. NOT! But my work according to her is helping those kids and herself to at least understand the words and pronounce them properly. And I'm glad to help. One student is trying so hard that I felt compelled to reward the hard work by sending a gift to them at the end of their school term. This kid works hard according to Cettorpes and she asked him what he might like from America. You know what this kid wants?

So....the shirt should arrive at my house in about ten days, then into Cettorpes' hands about five days after that. Well, it's what the kid wanted and he earned. Ain't the internet wonderful!
