Before I begin, I must feel the need to outline that I am <strong>not preaching to be a Child Psychologist. I have no experience in the field, so this blog is completely based on personal opinion.</strong> -- I don't need assholes trying to tell me something I already know, mkay?
For those that know me, know that I have a 3 year old son. Along with the natural responsibilities of taking care of a child, watching what he watches goes hand in hand, and in that time I've been an avid connoisseur of all things Kid Show related. I can recite shows in solid entirety and I know practically every character bio on the <a href="http://www.Nick.com">Nickelodeon</a> line up.
In my experience with watching these shows, I've taken note of two startling characters and the <em>interests</em> they seem to subtly represent.
<strong>Squidward. - From the show: Spongebob Squarepants.</strong>
<strong><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-147" title="squidward" src="http://anajosilee.wordpress.com/files/2009/08/squidward.gif" alt="squidward" width="358" height="350" /></strong>
Best known for his general hate of Spongebob and his partner in crime, Patrick. Squidward enjoys playing the Clarinet and par-taking in all things "fancy" and other wise benign.
However, there's something that has been highlighted thus far on two separate shows. Something that definitely caught my eye the first time and shocked me when it was later repeated again.
Squidward has a <strong>big</strong> kink for Spanking. Yes, spanking. What the fux up with that? -- And what possible message could that be sending?
Now, I'm coming to the shows and viewing them from an "adult" POV. Something that is always going to be different from a child's. But these shows aren't just viewed by kids that are my son's age. There are 12, 13, 14 year old's who get a kick out of Sponge-bob and the Gang. At that age, I was coming into dawning realizations about aspects of my sexuality and beginning to realize that some things that never used to be big to me that much before, now that I was a little older rang huge chimes in my head. The predominant of that being what my main fetish is; tickling. -- Every-time I saw or heard of a scene that involved tickling especially at that age, I was glued to the screen and dealing with inner conflicting feelings at what it was I was seeing.
Before I continue, I will introduce the next character that has a very well known and blatantly apparent fetish, one that is very well known in the tickling community.
<img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-146" title="Mort" src="http://anajosilee.wordpress.com/files/2009/08/mort.jpg" alt="Mort" width="150" height="113" />
This is Mort. A cuddly little Lemur with huge eyes and an over all sunny disposition. Everything about him screams adorable, from his squeaky falsetto voice, to his big fluffy tail. Little do many who don't watch know, Mort has a not-so-secret fetish.
Mort is obsessed with feet. Worshiping mostly. This has been proven on so many episodes that I've actually lost count. The creators of Mort make no bones about his fetish and highlight it even on the show page on Nick.com, you can see that <a href="http://www.nick.com/shows/penguins-of-madagascar/mort.jhtml">here.</a>
I can only imagine how many hits that page has received, not only by sexually evolving children, but by adults as well. Even Furry foot lovers.
Evolution has been kind to our generation, providing us with opportunities to grow up faster and even become technologically savvy at a young age. Long gone are the days of the Wall sized computers or the introduction and craze over colored television programs. Television shows have come a long way as well. I won't even go into highlighting the difficulties that adults older then me went through in gaining information about potential fetishes or kinks they have, as that is something that I will forever have respect for and leave it as just that.
Remember this?:
<img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-148" title="Olive-oyl-tickle" src="http://anajosilee.wordpress.com/files/2009/08/olive-oyl-tickle.gif" alt="Olive-oyl-tickle" width="400" height="320" />
A scene from a TV show that was way before my time. But one that is infamous in the tickling community. Or for you spanking enthusiasts, I know many of you will remember this:
<img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-149" title="Dezi_Lucy_sm" src="http://anajosilee.wordpress.com/files/2009/08/dezi_lucy_sm.jpg" alt="Dezi_Lucy_sm" width="296" height="443" />
Not a Children's show, but one that was most likely watched by young kids. I even remember I love Lucy being on NickatNite when I was 11/12.
I guess what I'm getting at is, that it's surreal and almost a little weird for me to be watching/experiencing television shows that are going to be a solid part/memory to a million kids out there who will look back on the aforementioned with find memories, just as much as some of you do with the Olive Oyl scene, the I love Lucy scenes and many other golden oldies.
