Last week I ran into a friend, Reggie, whom I hadn't seen in a while. From him I learned that he got back together with Tammy, a friend whom I have known since middle school.
Tammy and Reggie first got together after Dustin's death. Dustin was Tammy's husband; they married right out of high school because Tammy became pregnant with Sebastian. Sebastian was five months old when Dustin committed suicide. He had been mentally ill for a long time and Tammy never knew. It was very hard thing for her to deal.
Reggie was Dustin's best friend. He was a good thing for Tammy. He helped her pick up the pieces after Dustin's death. Unfortunately I firmly believe things happened way to fast for them. It hadn't been that long after Dustin's death that they started dating and shortly after that she became pregnant again with Caleb.
Tammy and Reggie's relationship had always been tumultuous and eventually they broke up. So I was glad when I heard they got back together because I believed he was good for her.
Well I found out Saturday night at Emily's bachelorette party from Eva (Tammy's sister) that Reggie hits Tammy. I immediately felt like hitting him the next time I see him. I am very loyal to my friends so to learn something like this got me seeing red. I've known Tammy longer; she's been a good friend of mine. I considered Reggie a friend, but no longer.
It's hard to believe this is happening to her, and I don't know what to do. I wish there was something I could do to help her besides beating the shit out of Reggie the next time I see him. (Well I wouldn't, but I really want to.)
