This happened yesterday, but I didn't feel like posting it then.
So I get up, drag myself out the door and get in my car. I turn the key and zero, zip, nada. Not even a clicking sound. Well, crud. I check the dome light to make sure it did not get left on somehow. Nope, switch in the off position. The daytime running lights shut off automatically after about 15 minutes if the car's not running, so that's not it. My battery is just dead.
It's 4:30 in the bloody am, no hope of getting a jump start. Back to the apartment, call work and tell them I'm going to be late. They are not pleased, but what can I do?
About 5:30 I figure some people are going to be leaving for work. Back to the parking lot. I pop the hood and sit there, hoping some kind soul will notice. A few of them do, but none of them have jumper cables. All I can do now is wait until the office opens at 9 and see if they have a set. They don't.
I finally get ahold of my brother, he takes off work and shows up around 10. We hook the car up but it still won't start. The battery is beyond hope. He has to get back for a meeting, but will come back after work and take me to Wal-Mart for a battery.
He could have dropped me off at work but my shift was going to be over in less then three hours, so no real point it that. So, I got to miss a day's work and as a bonus spend near $90 on a new battery!
I want a horse.
