Memories of NEST. Sunday, and saying goodbye.

I woke up around 6 and went down to the lobby. Finding no coffee, I went back to my room and made a pot there. Then, I walked outside. Kered was wandering around, and we had a smoke and talked until the breakfast buffet was ready.

People started drifting down to eat, and 7 or 8 of us shared a large table and discussed our plans for the day. The main event did not start until 1 that afternoon, so we had to entertain ourselves till then. Groups of people began breaking off for road trips, hanging out at the pool or gathering in rooms for TV, games, or other things.

Around 12:30, a small group of us formed a convoy and headed to the private club that had been reserved for the party. We got checked in and began to mingle. There was a hot tub, several small private rooms and a large common area. There were a few organized activities that one could take part in, but everyone was free to come and go as they wished, and the dungeon monitors kept an eye on things if a problem arose.

Many of us wandered in and out of the club to talk, smoke and just take a break. The event was to last until 7 or 8, but after about four hours I was ready to get back to the hotel. Kered gave me a lift, then returned to the club.

Pokey showed up not long after that, and we had a few cold brews and talked. Around 8 people began arriving at the hotel in groups large and small, and making plans for the rest of the night. I had to be at the airport by 6 Monday morning, so around 11 I began making the rounds and saying my goodbyes.

Those who have followed this blog have no doubt noted the lack of play. I saw a lot of it, and took part in some. I have not gotten into that here, out of respect for those involved. And to me, that's not what NEST is about. Meeting so many wonderful people, and getting to know them in person, has been more then enough for me.

Sitting at the airport Monday morning, and then on the flight home, that is what I thought about, and what I will always remember, and treasure, as long as I live. To those who were there, thanks for the memories. 🙂

I don't think it's lame at all. Ru tried his hand at video blogging, and so did Lee and Amanda, and they all were well received. Why not? 😀
