Today, for the third time in a little over a month, and for the second time this week, my mom and I traveled 150 miles, this time to Dover, NJ Hospital.
Unfortunately, due to the nature of the procedure that was performed on my mom today, I was not allowed to be present with her in the room. She underwent a mammogram, and a sonogram, by supposedly a very sweet female doctor, who is working with the wonderful doctor whom I mentioned in my previous posts.
The conversation today was all relayed to me secondhand by my mom, after her meeting with the doctor, but, according to my mom, the doctor today was "appalled", when my mom told her of how the doctors in Lancaster behaved. From the diaolouge I've heard, and the discussion I've had with nurses, doctors, and others who work at this hospital, kindness to patients, and the emotional aspect of being sick, both for the patient, and the family members, is just as important as the treatment itself. The doctors are patient, kind, and try to relay positive messages and thoughts, while still giving one a realistic picture of the scenario at hand. So far, knock on wood, my mom and I are extremely relieved at the care she has received at the hospitals in NJ.
I'm not 100% sure what comes next. From what I was told, the Drs have to study all the information gathered, before deciding on a treatment plan. Supposedly, knock on wood, they don't think my mom's situation is immediately life threatening. Based on what I've seen so far, I have the utmost confidence that the Drs will do their best, to keep my mom alive for a long time.
Anyhow, just wanted to post about the latest visit today. I will post updates as needed. Thanks again for the support I've received.
