Happy Easter!
all right, today I went to hang with my girlfriend's family. I see twenty of them on a fairly regular basis as far as aunts and uncles go. but there were people there that I see maybe once every other year. the regular family recognizes these people as long lost relatives that they haven't seen in forever. but usually I can't remember their names. I try really hard once I see them again. but most of the time it just aggravates me because I have to ask my gf what their names are.
no, I have never been in the situation that I hinted at in the title of this entry. but I have cleverly avoided it a few times. one of the things that might help me in these awkward situations is the fact that since I am not officially part of the family, they aren't really expected to remember my name (even though we've been going out for more than two years).
I've never made myself look like a fool in front of them, but I have in front of other people. the biggest problem I have is that I forget names at the exact moment their said. if I can hold on to the names for about ten minutes, then I will remember them for the rest of the day. but typically I lose them right away so I end up just looking like an idiot.
get ready for that little gem at NEST. you'll probably see me getting slapped by somebody I just called "hey you".
