to myself!
I graduated today, even though two of my grades have yet to be posted. I know that both of them will be As, but that is not really a problem. one of the main problems that I did have is that my GPA is 3.61, which means that I earned Cum Laude, when really, after this semester's slew of As, I would have been bumped up to a 3.65 or higher, which would have put me in the programs as Magna Cum Laude, which just sounds way cooler! too bad, I guess it's just going to be one of those things that I know that other people won't ever ask about.
I had to be up at seven this morning, to shower and get dressed and make sure I remember everything. then my buddy picked me up and we got some iced coffees. they weren't very good. then we showed up at the arena and found our spots, luckily they let us st wherever we wanted so that friends could graduate together. no time to meet family because they had trouble finding their way to the arena. three hours later we were done. I mean the entire ceremony took three hours, and then it took half an hour to get off campus because of parking and traffic. but it was worth it. I got to see lots of people that I would have forgotten about soon, and I got to walk across the stage and shake the President's hand and all that jazz.
the one thing that makes my graduation different than all others is that Dolly Parton was our guest speaker, because she was given an honorary doctorate of Music. that's cool and all, but that meant that the general public could not get in to the arena, so everyone had to be issued tickets to get in. no big deal, for me, because I grew up in her home town, so I wasn't too starstruck. surprisingly, she gave a very good speech, and had great things to say.
I am off to take a nap, and then I have some parties to hit up. have a great night everybody!
