So it is a Saturday and the family and I stopped at the local vege stand to pick up some corn on the cob and greenbeans for dinner tonight.
As I sat on the porch with the rain falling lightly, I was transported back to my childhood. I was 6 when I remember sitting outside at the neighbor's picnic table under a big patio umbrella with the rain sprinkling down, watching her take the stems off of greenbeans with a speed and dexterity that amazed me...
Funny how the littlest of things brings you to a point in time that you have never thought of before and the memory is strong as if it were yesterday,
As I continued the task at hand I began thinking of my dad. Yesterday (9-11) would have been his 86'th birthday had he not departed at the age of 64. He was a doting father who would do anything for us kids (and all kids really).
He earned the respect of all of those around him, and his entire life was spent surrounded by family and friends of all ages, races, and personalities.
The most important thing he taught me in life was that friendship, love and family are what we were put here on this earth for. I love him dearly for who he was and what he did for me in life. I miss him every day, wishing he could have seen my kids grow......
Beans are steaming now.....
