'tis true.
My first ever (and only) video game system I ever purchased way back in 1997 to play the then new Resident Evil franchise is living on borrowed time. It still works perfectly well, and we have spent many an awesome adventure surviving the horrors of Raccoon City: being relentlessly pursued by the Nemesis, fighting off hordes of zombies, running from giant spiders (eeeeewww) and always managing to avoid those damn self destruct mechanisms that the evil Umbrella Corporation seems to include in every goddamn shanty they own. God, I how I hate seeing those timers count down!
Anyway, back in Christmas 2002, my then current wife got me a Gamecube for Christmas along with the 'cube specific RE games. Somehow my Gamecube survived the divorce and stayed in my custody and I had these two systems to play my beloved RE games.
Recently I purchased the series of games on Gamecube via the wonderful place known as Amazon so I could play the franchise on a single system. Who cares if its a dead console? I got zombies to shoot!
It has since been brought to my attention that the 'cubes replacement, the Wii is backwards compatible so I can play my Gamecube games on it AND get the two RE Wii exclusive games to play on the Wii. Interactive Resident Evil zombie killing? Dude, I am so there!
Yes, I am buying a Wii. Shortly I will be shooting zombies and running from the Nemesis interactively! Yeah baby! Alas, after 13 years and all our adventures, my PS1 is going to be banished to the Land of Forgotten Toys.
Good bye old friend. 🙁
