Big story on the front page of
www.wpvi.com.
I knew the day had to come, and gradually, it will.
There is a big story on the WPVI website today that is announcing Jim Gardner's retirement.
Gardner will discuss details on tonight's 6 pm newscast.
According to the story, Gardner will scale back his newscasts in January and anchor the 6 pm newscast only but will not be on at both 6 and 11 as he is now.
At the end of 2022, Gardner is retiring completely.
Mr Gardner will be 74 years old at the time of his retirement.
So such is not surprising.
I thank TMF Jeff for finding the link to the WPVI website in 2012.
Such has allowed me to enjoy Gardner's newscasts for an extra decade.
I hopefully would have found such eventually, but knowing me and my technical skills, it would have taken a while lol.
I know that I have been watching Gardner since at least 2003 or 2004 when I lived in Lancaster, so it will have been well over 15 years by the time this happens.
Maybe Gardner is retiring gradually to allow WPVI to name his successor, and to get used to being totally retired himself after anchoring these shows since .. 1977
Mr Gardner is a wonderful newscaster.
I hope he has a great retirement
I will miss him when he does fully retire, as I'm sure all those who watch him often will as well.
