The stupidest problem in the world:
Last year, my rotation fell so perfectly that almost all holidays I already had off so I had to take virtually no vacation time.
The result?
I have over a freakin' month of benefit time I have to use up before September 12, and have no clue what to do.
I'm already hitting NH for Lee's gathering, but then...
Bupkus! I have no plan!
Even after the three days I took off for Lee's, I still have nigh a month of paid vacation.
I feel like kicking myself because I know if the shoe were on the other foot right now, I'd be begging to have this schmuck's "problem"...
Anyway, trying to slap together plans right now, I've developed some options which might be strung together in a bizarre roadtrip:
I don't know. I think most folks have it easier deciding this sort of stuff... They'd probably rent a beach house and just chill, but I'm a pale white boy with at least one example of skin cancer in my immediate family, and we of Nordic blood fare better in cooler climes than warmer...
People, if you have any suggestions, tell me some neat destinations you've been to, or where you'd like to go. Obscure, interesting and maybe even educational stuff. Things that stimulate mind and senses...
I don't need complete-vegetable-downtime. I need something intriguing, something inspiring... Gimme what you got -- I'm thankful for all suggestions.

Anyway, trying to slap together plans right now, I've developed some options which might be strung together in a bizarre roadtrip:
1.) The International Conservation Center in Fairhope, PA. They have an elephant sanctuary there that I'd love to tour... I'm nuts about elephants and need some for visual reference for some things long boiling in the back of my brain.
2.) Darke County, Ohio, to visit the Garst Museum and pick the curator's brains about Annie Oakley -- another story thing. ...it always is.
3.) Washington, D.C. to view a certain obscure early Edison film held at the Library of Congress. Yes, another story thing.
4.) Maine.
I just like cool weather, lobster, and whale-watching.
5.) The opposite alternative: Florida. Yes, humid and bleah, but it'd be just slightly off-peak for thunderstorms in America's "Lightning Alley", from Tampa to Orlando. I LOVE THUNDERSTORMS. And, yes, I'd go to Florida just for that and maybe look about for fresh fulgurites. If I was rich, they'd call me eccentric -- since I'm not, folks would probably consider me crazy.
