I suppose I'll make a post of some kind, but I think I'll put the bulk of my tribute here. Yeah, Ru made the suggestion for himself but I don't think our British cousin will mind me nicking his idea. Besides, I've been avoiding my blog for a bit and it could use a new posting.
Where to begin? NEST was just an absolute phenomenal experience. I could never stop kicking myself in the ass for waiting so many years for going. The amount of people I met, both old friends and meeting new ones, is unbelievable. To sit here and name names would take far too long. Let me just say that to everyone I met this past weekend, it was absolutely epic to meet you and I wish I had got to talk with you all more.
And let's not forget about all the fun. There are so many stories, both experienced and heard, that I will never forget. But obviously, the big story of NEST was new member, Jumper13000, arriving at the hotel on business and meeting us, his getting to have his "A-ha!" moment at the flagship gathering of our fetish and meeting everyone in person first rather than online. Much props to Mike, who I had the pleasure of talking with on our numerous smoke breaks, and is a genuinely nice guy.
At last count, there are over 40 NEST tribute threads. So, inevitably, the haters will come out of the woodwork. Whether it stems from sadness at not being able to go, or just general meanness, they're coming. But kudos to Jeff for nipping them in the bud right off the bat. Now I'm not one for censorship and the like. I feel everyone is entitled to their opinion. But if you've never been to a NEST, or any other gathering before, then you really have no concept of the joy of the experience and how much we want to talk about it. So just weather the storm. The tributes will stop in a week or so and you'll have your discussions threads back.
Anyway, much love to all my fellow NEST-ees, from Team Lean taking over everywhere we went to the people I only got to say hello to, I miss you all and wish we were still hanging out together. I want to be back at the hotel and seeing you all again and spending more time with the people I didn't get to talk to that much. But alas, all things must come to an end and all we can do is wait it out until the next gathering. Just know that meeting you all and being together with you all was the absolute best part of the weekend, bar none. You're all my extended family and I promise I will see you all again.
