When I moved to Houston in 1980 there was a popular saying, "I wasn't born in Texas, but I got here as soon as I could". You don't hear that much anymore.
The Lone Star State is so rich in history, natural beauty and cultural diversity. With all its problems (and there are many) this is where I was meant to be, and I would not want to live anywhere else. I am not Texas born or Texas bred, but this is where I will spend my remaining years on earth, come what may. And when my time on this planet ends, my cremated ashes will be scattered in my beloved Hill Country.
