I woke up this morning, and saw that about 100 people had all posted "Happy New Year" or something like that right around midnight on Facebook. Now, my phone isn't smart, so perhaps that is easier to do than I think it is, but it seems like that's a lot of dedication to stop kissing your new year's date (if you are lucky enough to have one), pull out your phone, and make that post. God forbid you actually had to sit at your computer and do it.
I've been a Facebook user for a number of years, but I'm not glued to it like a lot of people. I don't see the reason. In fact, the more people I see that post so frequently, the more I resist. Maybe that's the non-conformist side of me coming through, but I do not feel the need to wish everyone a Merry Christmas (I do wish that to them, but I hope they know that without me having to post it). I also don't need my friends to know where I'm going, or that 2010 was a fantastic year, or that I'm thinking about everyone who has been touched by their brother or sister (which sounds much worse than I'm sure they meant).
So, my good people, tell me: Am I missing something? Is there some joy of posting your life on Facebook that I am missing?
