I love Central Texas, but I am thinking about moving back to Houston. Even given the current state of the economy I stand a better chance of finding a decent job there.
For many people, Austin has always been a somewhat difficult place to make a decent living. I can remember during the boom years of the 90's knowing people with college degrees who worked at a convenience store or tending bar in some dive because they wanted to live here, and that's fine. For them.
If I live a normal life span I have at most 15 productive working years left, and I'm tired of being broke all the time. There is a lot of research to be done and it won't happen in the next few months, if at all, but it's something I have to take a hard look at.
