I was thinking that I should add to the ol' blog since it's been a while. The highlights of this year so far have been the sorta surprise birthday party given to me by my daughter at Mamaw's house April 17, where again I got to eat all her favorite food and flavor of birthday cake and she again held my present for me in safe keeping all year. The present was a gift card to Dairy Queen and I could use it anytime the kid was avaliable since she was guarding it for me. I got two dilly Bars out of a 20 dollar pre-paid card. Well, better than last year. *sigh*
Then two weeks later was NEST who's highlights were my date with CrystalLight, rooming with Miss Serendipity(and we both had some of the bad pizza the first night which kept her in my room and me hovering around the men's room in the lobby for about 18 hours), and presenting LeeAllure and BrightEyes with tokens of appreciation for all the work they put into NEST.
Three days after Nest I had my kid's sixth birthday party with you guessed it, all the same stuff to eat....et al, ad nauseum...
Things went routinely for me the next several months until Tortuga's Munch. Maps said 2 hours and fifteen minutes from my door to the restaurant and straight down I-65 to Louisville, and for once they were right. I met Amandabear for the first time, Capnmad and fireguardian showed up out of the blue, and a local who lurked the TMF for years showed up and we had a great evening of fun and talk. That place was a great little theme restaurant and I liked the food. Tortuga got a bit snockered on one and a half beers but everything turned out fine. I will go to the next munch Tortuga has if possible.
A few weeks later emilyemilyemily threw a munch just south of Cincinnatti. Maps said it was....2 hours and fifteen minutes from my door to the restaurant. I got lost just over the river but recovered nicely and was the first to arrive at the place. Emily is a doll! The pizza was good and the place was as accommodating as they could be. After the munch we went window shopping then I waited with her for the bus to take her home.......which never arrived. So, after being very confused trying to find my pickup in the underground garage Emily and I were heading deeper into Kentucky to find her dorm and it actually was easy to find. So now all I had to do was find I-74 west in all the tangle that is the interstate system going through Cincy. I threw the map out the window and got home in just a little over two hours. I can't believe I did that either.
So next for this world traveller is Bella's Birthday Bash. Registration is in, room is booked, and so far all lights are green for the trip. If inclement weather holds off for that weekend I will be part of what might be history in the annals of TMF gatherings. It will be good to see old friends again and meet some new people. I hope to be checked in then be at Bella's before 9pm Friday night. Can't wait. Then I start saving for next May and my fourth NEST. After staying in this county for most of my adult life I love driving to new places and seeing the sights along the way.
It would be nice to be able to drive to England..........
