Okay, so I’m a fan of “I Believe in God” on Facebook and, well…they keep advertising this website called christianshirts.net. And you won’t believe the idiocy and pro-Republican propaganda that runs rampant! 
I mean, it’s everywhere! And to be blunt, it’s just a joke. It’s militant conservatism everywhere you go. Now most of you guys probably know that I am a Christian, but I identify myself as a liberal Christian and I believe that the church needs to be transformed for this generation, just as it has been transformed in every age. I’m definitely not a Fundamentalist Christian (meaning I don’t believe in Biblical literalism) and politically-wise, I have more in common with atheists, agnostics, and freethinkers than with most of my fellow Christians. As for my faith, I don’t believe in a literal hell of eternal suffering and I also believe in the dignity and worth of all religions and that there are many ways to God/Truth/Enlightenment. Growing up, I have had many good experiences in all the churches I’ve attended, but there are also just as many other experiences that have left a bad taste in my mouth…
The following entry will feature some of the more stupid Christian slogans that are on that website I just mentioned and my commentary on each of them.

Oh lovely…believe the way I believe or burn in a fiery pit for all time. If Christians really did believe in hell…I mean REALLY believed in it, wouldn’t they try as hard as possible to make sure people didn’t get there? If it’s an eternal pleasure vs. eternal pain scenario, they seem pretty lazy then.
I’m of the opinion that some Christians use hell as an empty threat and a warning…scare tactics rather than love tactics. >.<
Hah! Now this one is laughable. Getting the church to give up slavery was like pulling teeth! Christians endorsed slavery for a very long time and even used the Bible to justify it, using the passages that stated that black is evil and white is pure to their own advantages. It’s disgusting.
Inside? Inside of…what? 😵 LOL! Now this one just made me crack up. (And yes, I know what they really meant by this…I just have a dirty mind)

Ah, so the “winners” get to live with God in heaven, right? And what happens to the losers? Ohh…you say they experience excruciating torture for all ETERNITY? Well…good riddance, right? Especially if they’re gays, atheists, communists, liberals, and Muslims. Amen!
Okay, I can respect the concept of abstinence…really I can. But c’mon, the majority of people don’t practice it. And what’s so evil about pre-marital sex, anyway? In my opinion, I think it’s fine as long as it’s done between two, loving and consenting adults. Plus, abstinence-only education has proven to be an ineffective way to prevent teen pregnancies. But hey, if you can wait until marriage, kudos to you…but I still think that it’s better to see if you’re sexually compatible with that person before committing to something as serious as marriage.
What the mother fuck---? O.O Okay, to whoever came up with this one…do you even know WHY a lot of the babies that are aborted are African-American? Because black people are still so stigmatized within the USA that a good chunk of them are confined within the poorest parts of the cities, where condoms and sex education aren’t easily available. Idiots!
Guess most of the people on this forum are tools of Satan then.
Oh yeah…if you’re straight you’re automatically against gay marriage. =D Makes perfect sense to me.
Okay, regarding my stance on the military. I’m pro-soldier, but I’m pretty anti-war. But what I don’t get is that this slogan is saying that all Christians should be pro-war. Oh yeah…let’s totally forget about what Jesus said about loving your enemies and turning the other cheek to those who hate you.
Okay, now this one is the most offensive to me personally. Pseudo-marriages?! Um…excuse me, but people like YOU are the ones making sure that we have absolutely no right to marry in the eyes of the law. Get out of our bedrooms and we’ll get out of your churches, if that’s what you want.
Please know that I’m not saying that all conservatives believe this way. In fact, most of the friends I have away from this forum are conservative and I love them dearly. And they’re certainly not idiotic and militant as you’d believe from the pictures above. So I’m not criticizing the sane people of the religious right, but the crazy ones and their leaders.
OH, but the good news to all this is that there are also some really nice Christian images I’ve found that have a more liberal stance. ^_^
