Anybody who would be angry with you for "not being there" for them during a time when you're struggling and hurting yourself is selfish and doesn't deserve your friendship. You need to do you right now, and no one can fault you for that.

bro, i know EXACTLY how you feel. when my Kenpo instructor passed away over two years ago now, my love for the art simply vanished and i quit practicing about a year later. to this day it still kills me to even think about going back. i don't talk to hardly any of the guys i trained with anymore, i don't attend any of the bi-annual seminars. i've pretty much taken myself completely out of it because of that one loss that affected me so greatly.

just know that you got people here who have shared in your current state. i feel for you, man! pm me any time you need a good set of eyes to read any venting you might need to do.

Life throws us shit, Slacker. That's a fact. But like a real bad thunderstorm that keeps hammering away and keeps hitting us with sheets of rain and waves of wind, it has to let up sometime. Just stay stubborn and don't give up. It does eventually get better.

Hey you! Hang in there my friend. I'm with Skip....if someone gives you a tough time because you need some "me" time, fuck 'em. Even the ones that are considered the "strong ones" (and I am in my circle of friends) need time to vent, feel, cry, whatever. It's sort of an outlet for just being overloaded. I can understand how you feel about trying to get through the holidays without your mom. I'm not sure if I'll ever get used to that. I can relate to the friends thing as well. People that I thought who would always be there for me have proven that wasn't the case. Somehow they always resurface whenever they need you again though huh? I'm glad that you seem to have your loyal bunch of friends and that's what you should focus on, because those folks DESERVE your friendship. As for the other things you're going through, I know it seems like too much but eventually there will be a day where you may find yourself feeling a bit more like the "Old Brent." It'll come, I promise. Until then, if you ever need an ear or a shoulder, remember I have two of each.
