So I took a bit of a siesta. That's Spanish for party. Or something like that, I took French in High School. There are a million things I could say about why or when or those other W's, but none of them are really important to you, Joe Q. Reader.
It's good to be back though, and I'm sure someone missed me. A little. Like maybe a little twinge of missing me. I'd be satisfied with that. Life has been pretty standard lately now that classes have started up again (To a point) and I'm back to my usual antics. Generally these antics involve a few things, puns, references to popular movies I actually haven't seen, that sort of deal. But the other day someone mentioned that there was someone who reminded them a lot of me. So, I thought to myself, what makes someone "like me"? Similar sense of humor, writing style, of course very important on an online forum where my voice, nonverbals, etc. are non-existent. Similar stories, grammar, unfortunate tendency to tell my most embarrassing stories in Main Chat and racking up several unfortunate nicknames?
It's hard to tell people apart based on messages alone, unless that helpful name/chat avatar is sitting next to it. So, I went through a couple of my old messages and picked up on a few of my wording habits, and I made a couple realizations.
1. I say "Heh," a lot. I don't do that in real life.
2. When I'm trying to make someone feel better, I say "This sounds cliche, but" and then do a cliche. I'm sincere, but I guess the reason they're cliches is that they have a point.
3. Tangents. I have trouble sticking to a topic. My cat won't shut up. She's on the stairs, meowing at me.
These are just a few of the many habits I seem to have that form my online "persona" or whatever. And most of them are things I do in real life, so I guess I'm pretty damn sincere (except for the "heh" thing.) But it just got me thinking, when you know someone really well, you barely need that name or picture to know it's them. I dunno, just something to think about. I'm going to go take a nap.
