Personal, but in the blog.. so it won't cause a stir.. I hope..
Also.. not a rant.. just information.
I had a very serious seizure on Saturday morning, September 17th, as serious as the one that put me in the hospital last November, although this time I didn't have to go to the hospital.
I did have serious facial bruises/cuts, including one that is still there, which prompts people who see me, and dont know I had the seizure, to say. "Mitch, what happened to your eye". I tell them I had an accident., without going into the details.
This incident finally prompted me to seek a neurologist.
This past weekend, from Friday, September 23, to Sunday, September 25, 48 hours, I underwent a mobile brain test, where I had a machine attached to my head, with a belt around me and a huge pack on my back, which hurt my back so much, that my back is still killing me. I was home during the test, and couldn't really go out. It was very painful, but at least I didn't have to be hospitalized.
As scary as all this was, it was almost.., a blessing in disguise that I had this, because it finally forced me to hopefully deal with the problem.
I'm waiting for the test results to come back. The tech who hooked me up told me that a few of the wires on my pack came loose, so I hope they got enough information to do the test right. If not, I would have to take it all over again! How fun!
Before he even had the results, the neurologist told my father and I that I will almost definitely end up on anti seizure meds, similar to the ones I had/have been on periodically since my hospital visit last year,.
Now, I wait. I haven't had any other seizures since the major one a week ago Saturday.
However, during the test, I was having bouts of forgetfulness.
I usually have a razor sharp memory, so this was a concern to me.
However, I was told that forgetfulness could be a side effect of the test.
Although the neurologist didn't say it straight out, he eluded to the fact that I may well have epilepsy.
Supposedly, that can be controlled with medication.
The crazy thing is,, the seizure on September 17th was completely different from the one last November.
The seizure last November, I was completely awake, had severe convulsions, and blacked out.
The seizure on September 17th, was very similar to the one that I had when I was in NJ with my mom in the summer of 2011, in that the September 17th seizure happened in my sleep, I remember very little about it, and when I did wake up on the 17th, I had the serious bruises/cuts on my face.
The waiting is the worst part, although I'm relieved I haven't had any additional seizures since the 17th.
I hope to know something anytime between today, and early next week, although I'm not sure if the Jewish Holidays would delay the process.
That's the situation.
