On Thursday Friday and Saturday 95% of my route runs north and south on Lamar street. Lamar is a major north south artery. Last Saturday there were three large events going on, all centered around Lamar. The city knew traffic would be backed up for miles in both directions. So, some genius at the street department decided it would be a good idea to take a large strech of south Lamar down to one lane for some road work fun. South bound traffic was, for all intents and purposes gridlocked most of the day.
Today a few smaller events were going on, with Lamar again the main access route. The same visionary at streets felt today would be a good time to work on south Lamar again, this time north bound. It was not quite as bad as last weekend, but close. I have to wonder if anyone at city hall has a clue about what is going on here on any given day.
