The last weekend in February marked a great occasion - my first ever Munch.
I drove down to Toronto with my gf on Friday and during the hours leading up to the Munch I felt very nervous: I wasn't sure how I'd be received, what was going to happen, who was gonna be there and whether or not I would actually like the people I was about to meet face-to-face and enjoy their company. This was also especially big since this would be my first step in going to NEST.
Well... those fears were immediately allayed when I entered the restaurant and met the incomparable Snail Shell: it honestly felt like I wasn't meeting someone for the first time but catching up with a great friend who I hadn't seen in a while. Shortly thereafter, I met Rob a.k.a. TickleEmperor, and found myself just enjoying the conversations and the moment. I didn't get the chance to meet many people but the ones I did meet were awesome and I learned quite a lot. Not much happened in terms of activity but it was so laid back and lax that I had truly an amazing time and now I really can't wait for NEST!
Josh: Buddy, I can't thank you enough for the great time my gf and I had! The weather may have gotten crappy for about 3-5 minutes but the whole night felt like I was hanging out with my friends and that meant a great deal to me. Believe that I will bring the real McCoy (i.e. real cheese CURDS for poutine) but I'm wondering what will happen when we cross the border with said cheese curds, given your track record... :S
This was my Munch experience: while nothing really happened, the entire experience was amazing and a relief all in one.
Next up: final money savings, GET REGISTERED AND BOOKED, getting to Toronto, joining the 3Cs, (Canadian Contingent's Convoy) spend the next 10 hours creating an ass-groove in the rental car seat, arriving in Philly, hopefully relishing in the fruits of my ass-groove labour and then NEST itself where I hope to meet many more like Josh and Rob: great friends!!!
Let the Final Countdown begin!
NOTE: As always, my obligatory apologies for the jumbled and abstract manner my thoughts and my blog have taken shape: I hope you get what I mean. 🙂
