First of all, let me say that I didn’t believe people when they said that after NEST, there was often a big crash after the weekend with all the fun being over and depression settling in. Okay....I get it now. I am beginning to experience that as well, along with feeling all the sore muscles in my body now that I am not actively tickling and struggling anymore. Haha!
This was the most amazing weekend ever! I knew it would be a good time, but I didn’t realize just how crazy it would be! Let me start at the beginning. I was so happy to travel with my very close friend, Kevin (Kevin_kidnapped) to NEST. It was an awesome adventure and helped this shy girl to relax a great deal more than I probably would have if I had gone alone.
We arrived at the hotel on Day 1 in the afternoon shortly before the “Ice Breaker” event would begin. Upon arriving at the hotel and walking into the lobby to check in, we noticed a group of people standing and sitting in the lobby checking us out just as much as we were wondering if they were NEST people as well. I was feeling extremely shy but very excited and we headed up to our room to relax for a few minutes.
After registering at NEST HQ, we headed over to the main room for the Ice Breaker. I found the first available seat in the corner and sat down to quietly observe. It didn’t take long before friends started coming over to talk to me and Kevin. Friends we already knew from TMF and friends we finally got to meet for the first time from FetLife. Scheduling time to play with friends began right away. Any available time was given to meeting new people and playing with them.
I don’t know about other NEST years, but from bits and pieces of conversations floating around and by my own observations, I noticed that this seemed to be the year of the Newbies. There were so many of us there, and over the course of the weekend, it seemed that a good majority of them also jumped in with both feet, taking part in as much as they could. Loved the Newbie smiley bracelets that identified us and I think I can safely say that most of us enjoyed displaying them proudly – along with the awesome name tags and ribbons with various phrases on them. I only picked the “Newbie” ribbon, but next year, I’ll also add to my name tag ones that say, “Face down is better” (something like that) and “That’s not a safeword!” LOL That one was the best! I heard that phrase circulating amongst Ler’s all weekend. It was even used on me a few times. I hope Lee Allure keeps this idea of the phrase ribbons going. People loved these and lined several of them up under their name tags.
Aside from the Kidnapping and Newbie orientations, I didn’t get involved in much because I was so busy meeting and playing with people. It was a steady coming and going of sessions, playing with various friends and hooking up with new ones. Kevin and I were constantly scheduling our play dates with people letting each other know when we were going to play with this person or that and when we found people that were interested in hooking up with us together. I think over the course of the weekend, we had about a dozen sessions with friends either one-on-one or together as a group. This doesn’t include the kidnapping Ler’s Kevin and I experienced. (Read that blog as well). I was even told by a few guys that I was the best Ler they experienced all weekend! One session with Kevin and I had a total of 5 people in the room with me and another woman being tied down together and tickled by the three guys. Up and down the hallways, you could often hear laughter pouring out of the rooms. We passed by staff regularly in the halls who would smile and nod. They did a great job making sure that we had privacy and an awesome time there. The hotel was spectacular – a great place for this kind of event!
There wasn’t a whole lot of sleeping going on, naturally, and one had to grab food on the go whenever we had a few minutes to spare. We were constantly popping in and out of rooms after being invited to hang with friends, and I think we visited every floor of that hotel at least once that weekend.
My mind is still in a fog and my thoughts are still fully immersed in tickling that went on at NEST. I am finding it difficult to bring myself down to earth and back to the vanilla world – which sucks by the way. I wanna live at the hotel and play there all day, every day! LOL
The icing on the cake with it being our first NEST was that we were also kidnapped together. That was terrifying and hilariously fun at the same time. I have written a blog on that as well!
I am definitely going again next year – no doubt about that. The people involved in making all this happen did an amazing job – what an undertaking for such a large group of people.
