Tonight is my last night in my apartment. I moved in here May 20, 1999. As i've posted before, this is the longest place I've ever lived in terms of duration.. thirteen years, and three plus weeks. Tomorrow morning my dad is coming down, and we are supposed to stay in a hotel tomorrow night. Then Sunday is the big move.
While my relatives all feel I will be relieved to get out of this apartment, I have many memories of this apartment, both good , and bad. The Thursdays with my ex best friend for 11 plus years. The Market America meetings. The nights spent watching movies, and Jim Gardner.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that I have mixed feelings about it., I will be relieved to move because I no longer have to live in the place where my mom lived for almost thirteen years, and where I saw her taken out, to a hospital and then nursing home to die.
My last day in my apartment was not without its adventure. This morning my assistant suggested that we go to Delaware Park, and he wouldnt charge me for the trip. So,.. we did, and I had a really nice day, hitting many trifectas. I didnt really win, but nor did I lose.. It was like a fitting goodbye to Lancaster.
Now, tonight is one last dose of Jim Gardner on TV. (I hope, as I dont know if hes there, as I wasnt home at 6) before I have to resort to the internet to watch him.
As we drove back across the farmland from Delaware into Maryland, and into Lancaster County tonight, I realized how beautiful this area is. I have a feeling I'm going to miss it.
One More Night.. Literally.. before I leave here for good.
