Today, I would definitely call him, and without even saying hello, I would say, "Daryl Coley is the best male gospel singer of all time!"
And we would argue, talk music, tell stories, and sing together for hours.
So, as I listen to the soulful, spiritual voice of Daryl Coley, and I attempt to match his effortless runs note by note, the memories of my best friend hit me. So bittersweet.
I miss his laughter the most. I miss how I would do anything, say anything just to hear it. It didn't matter how long it took.... I lived for that sound.
I'm 100% certain that I'm addicted to the sound of laughter. It's beautiful, entertaining, satisfying, often sexy. I love every type, but the loud, deep, ridiculous laughs that take over a person's entire body are my favorite. It's the type that leaves a person grinning, teary-eyed, breathless.... It's the reason that every person I have ever loved has been funny.
It's one of the reasons I hate gags. I have to hear that laughter, even my own. I want to see every, single reaction as I toy with you, tickle you... I want to see the laughter take over your body. I want to watch as your giggles and pleading make you weak and desperate.
So... That's the post. I miss my best friend. I miss talking to him about everything under the sun, including tickling. And I miss his ridiculous laugh. Loud and contagious.
If you were here with me, you would be laughing. 💕
