first, let me begin by stating that I am in good shape financially. I have quite a bit in the bank, and enough to get me through a few months of rent and food even without working. I do need to get a job, though.
I need a job because soon I will be graduating from Tennessee and I will have about three months until graduate school begins. since I know that eventually I will run out of money, I figured I'd start working now part-time to build up my funds a little more. figured it'd be better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.
here lies my predicament: I have no idea where to work! I have worked during the summers before. I have two years' experience as a dishwasher, two years' experience as a groundskeeper, three years' experience as a lifeguard, and one year's experience of management. the skills I have acquired are pretty specialized except for management, which applies to all things. this makes me think I should get some sort of customer service job somewhere, since I can write my own book on how to treat customers.
however, these jobs are not as easy to find as a sales clerk, or a server, or retail. so I figured I'd bite the bullet and go for one of those jobs until I move and find something more permanent. the only thing I have to ask is, "are the horror stories true about these jobs?" I hear that people really loathe these kinds of positions, and I don't want to be miserable if I have the choice, which i do.
right now I'm looking at a small vietnamese restaurant: T.Ho. figured if I had to start serving, might as well be in a small setting so that I don't screw up on too large of a scale. let me know if I'm making a mistake. also I'd gladly work for anybody's business here so that we can start a small scale tickling entrepreneurship and then build our way up to an empire. with a really dull front. like a florist. or a dry cleaning service. that also tickles! eh whatever. that's just an afterthought. but with the right people, it could happen!
