Ah Shemp day. The day each year the forum gets pranked. The day people go ballistic because the forum is different for 6 hours. I don't give 2 shits about Shemp Day either way. It could happen for 6 hours once a week, once a year, or never at all and I wouldn't lose sleep. Don't tell that to those who will though.
I think that there is a misconception that there are just those who are "for" or "against" it. I think a large group of us were lumped into those for, when in reality, we are just against those making much bigger of a deal about something so simple. The only prank day I disagreed with was last year, because it targeted two people frequently hated for no better reason than people don't know them/are jealous of them/think they run things/etc. It gave them an easy way to run their mouths against them.
Other than that, I don't care that for 6 hours a year the place is something different. I've seen all the arguments. "I don't undertand it" Ask someone. "I'm not included" Neither am I, but we kinda are because it happens to all of us. You can't have a prank if everyone is invited. "This is the only 6 hours I have this year to steal my neighbor's internet to look at the forum" Ok. "My personal space was invaded" Oh as for you (one person particular) go fuck yourself you little whiny fucking bitch after you spent three posts in a thread two days before, ANNOUNCING shemp day was coming, saying "I hope this doesn't divide. You helped contribute to the dividing fire by constantly regurgitating your displeasure which has been so much your M.O. as of late. And lastly, a whole set of behind the scenes drama between people that, while not public and for them to handle, still had public repercussions. It's hard for people to understand public distaste and outcry, when some are mostly crusading for something that happened off the forum that most don't know about.
So what does all of this mean? If you pin your ability for enjoyment on other people like a pinata, you've already lost. You can't live life hoping that others will make you have a good time. You make a good time for yourself, enjoy your friends, and live. If there is shit on the sidewalk, walk around. Don't step in the shit, then denounce the world for having a shit in it.
All I'm saying is I don't care about Shemp Day either way. I care more about a large group of "adults" having such extreme reaction to 6 hours of fodder. I still like the same people I did before, hate the same people as before and my life continues unfettered. I enjoy the place for the same reasons I always have and will continue to do so, because I make my fun here, no one else. *gives pinata to Rob*
