My good friend Emily's younger sister, Liesl, has been having some medical problems lately. It seems every time she turns around, something is happening. She was recently in the hospital again, and so far the doctors aren't sure what is wrong.
Late last year, Liesl had her first knee surgery and she had the second knee surgery earlier this year. She had bad knees that needed surgery. However, not long after her second knee surgery, she landed in the hospital with stomach pains. After what seemed forever, they discovered cysts on her right ovary so they removed the ovary. Thankfully it wouldn't affect her ability to have children.
Few weeks after she had her ovary removed, she was back in the hospital again with stomach pains. Turns out she had an urinary tract infection.
Now late last week, she landed in the hospital yet again with stomach pains. As of right now, the doctors aren't sure what is wrong. Initially Emily told me that they figured it was a bacterial infection of some kind because the antibiotics they administered to Liesl were working, however the doctors haven't discovered the reason behind her stomach pains.
Liesl is out of the hospital and is doing better, but like I mentioned the doctors don't know what caused her pain. She's had more tests but her family hasn't heard the results yet. Emily was giving me an update yesterday when I saw, and she told me Liesl's doctor is wondering if her pain isn't connected to her menstrual cycle. Her problems with ovary happened at the end of her menstrual cycle and her recent problems happened nearly a month after that, at the end of her cycle. Still, until the results come back, they're not sure.
So, I'm asking for everyone to keep her in your thoughts and prayers. She's a young woman about to graduate high school who has been hit with one health issue after another.
Thanks.
