....at least as far as tickling somebody new, I think those days are over! Ha!
But up until a few years ago, I worked in a woodshop in Brooklyn....it was almost all people in their 20s, and early 30s and a few of us who were older, but....quite frankly....even the older people were "young".....virtually everyone in the shop was an artist of some sort. Lots of musicians, especially touring musicians, so you could go on tour, and then come back and work at the shop. Very flexible. And though it was mostly guys, there were always females working there as well.
So this 23 year old female started at my job, and we were introduced and I was told to show her around and get her started, blah blah blah....
Right from that very first day, she was very touchy and a little flirty. For instance, that first day, if she'd have to reach over to get something, she'd put her hand on my forearm, and let it just lightly linger there as she got it, or....everything was very touchy. If it was the opposite situation, and I was the one doing it? I think it would be a trip to the boss' office! Well, no bother, I was always flattered. And she'd always remark "how cute I was". And a guy I worked with,older than me, she'd always remark "how sexy" he was....so she was happy to lightly flirt....especially because she was probably a little nervous working with all these guys.
But just to be clear, so I don't come off as some lech.......I was not looking for this attention, everyone at the shop thought she had a crush on me, it became a shop joke, she followed me around everywhere.....everyone observed that she'd be touchy with me, and that she wasn't that way with anyone else. So...yeah, ok, I developed a sweet little work crush on her in return, but....nothing serious. It was sweet and flattering.
After a couple of years of this, we were very comfortable with each other, and friends. To this day, she emails me (she's traveling around the world).
So now it's a couple of years later, and I don't work there anymore, but I go there a lot to see my friends. And one day, it's summer....and she's working, and she was working in a back room just...like painting little figurines or something...something small and contained.
Because it was hot, she was wearing a white tank top and those like Oshkosh overalls, or Dickies overalls.....so her entire side was completely exposed. Including under her arm.
At one point, she's doing something....I wish I could remember this better......and I'm standing next to her....and she picks up her arm a bit, so it's right next to me, beautiful and smooth and innocent....and she's not closing it......so I take my finger and I surprise her with a quick light finger drag right down the middle, with the pad of my finger, almost like grazing it, as if I were touching velvet for the first time......she giggles and flinches and wrinkles her nose, but doesn't move away, she keeps looking down at what she's doing...... so this time I took my one finger....but this time it wasn't a light finger drag....this time I crooked my index finger, put it right in the middle, and gave a very deliberate, up and down fast light tickle with my fingernail.......and this surprised her and this time she giggled much louder, wrinkling her nose and wiggled away, happy to be tickled and happy for the attention. It was adorable.
Not much. Just a little quick (spontaneous) tickle. But sometimes those are the best, and are the ones you remember the most. I can still feel her skin, and I can still her adorable giggle.
I guess I shouldn't feel too bad about it, I mean, all the hours I spent with her, talking, walking around....I even taught her to play drums! And my ex girlfriend from years ago ended up leaving me for a much older guy, in his late 50s, so....ok. I think I'm over it.
