I was minding my own business searching to see if there was any way to block and not just ignore a member. Assuming that there was a thread or two on the subject, I did a search for the words "block member."
I stumbled upon the story section, which- to be honest was pretty much on purpose. I clicked on the link. I like tickle stories more than I like videos and art. I was reading a particular story when all of a sudden the writer started referring to the characters by race.
"Caucasian features"
"Asian"
"Pale white skin"
Ok- Whatever.... That didn't bother me as much.
Then I read these sentences....
And this author continued to refer to the Black characters as "King Kong" for the remainder of the story.
My response was as follows:
How unfortunate that you had to ruin your writing by using racist tropes and referring to the Black assistants as gorillas and "King Kong."
Disgusting! I guess I should be fucking surprised, but I'm not.
This is not my first issue with this kind of thing here, and I'm sure it won't be my last. How is it that in 2021 (2019 when it was posted) you can't be creative and write without using racist tropes like comparing Black men to gorillas, calling them King Kong, and using them to perpetuate White fear in a story?
How do you not know how offensive and unacceptable it is? My bet is that you DO know that it is both offensive and unacceptable and that you just don't give a shit @Tickling2death.
And this is how some of you all still see us.
And worse, there are those of you out there who don't see how viewing us as monsters and animals is a problem and is dangerous or detrimental to us when you....
And before I hear the ridiculous excuses, I really just need one thing!
Be better, even if you're not!
Ugh!

- See us in a neighborhood that you think we "don't belong in."
- Or when we interview for a job.
- Or when we are pulled over.
- Or when we are just minding our own businesses living our everyday lives and someone is afraid just because we're Black.
And before I hear the ridiculous excuses, I really just need one thing!
