When I got up this morning rain was coming down in buckets. I got to my car and crawled to work at 10-15 mph. The entrance into the parking lot is not lit at all, and I almost turned into the ditch.
I found a parking spot and stepped out of my car into a small lake, the water was over the tops of my shoes. Even with an umbrella I was pretty well drenched by the time i got inside.
Now, the real fun begins. They had someone taking us by car from the office out to our assigned bus, saving me from doing the back stroke across the parking lot. I get on my bus and I'm doing my pre-trip and find the defroster is not working. I get on the radio and am instructed to pull the bus up to the shop.
After much debate it is determined that said defroster can't be fixed quickly, and I'm already late pulling out. Another bus is assigned, and the car is busy so I wade across the lot. While pre-tripping that bus, the other bus pulls up and I am told the defroster is now in fact working.
I change buses yet again and pull out. Less then two miles from the yard the defroster dies and my windows are clouding up quickly. Pulling of to the roadside I inform dispatch of my plight, and am told another bus will be sent out to me.
The bus arrives, and I change out yet again. The defroster does work, but the A/C is on and I can't get it shut off so I can turn on the heat. : By turning the A/C up to 80 I do at least get the windows cleared off but the bus never really warms up inside.
By the time I reach the starting point for my route I am almost an hour late, not to mention wet and cold. It was..A long day, although the rain did let up some with daylight. When I got home around 2:30 my socks were still wringing wet. I love Monday's.
