So I was at the grocery store the other day, getting...well, groceries. Anyway, I go up to the counter and wait behind some little old woman with a shitload of stuff because this is still shorter than every other counter. So she's got milk, and ask for it to be double-bagged. First of all, I'm pretty sure a single bag can hold one thing of milk. I mean, I know they aren't that thick but still.
So this happens a few other times too. And I start thinking, just what's the deal with that anyway? I mean I get that they want to stuff bags as full as they can while still not mixing things that may not play well together, but then why not just use one of the paper bags? Y'know, the brown ones that they SHOULD have? But NO! That isn't enough, because apparently those should be double bagged too! So...really, wtf?
Why can't we just have bags be a bit thicker. All plastic should be doubled. Problem solved. Or is it? If they did that, then people would probably try to fit even more in there, and when there'd be too much they'd STILL want it doubled. Plus it's a waste! Do these people realize that every bag counts? I've worked at a grocery before, and I know what it's like to be thin on bags. It sucks, bad. All because of little old women wanting to double bag everything!
I get that some might not be going straight home and need to keep their colder items...cold. Well, putting it in 3 bags isn't going to help much! That's why they have those large bags made for that purpose, to keep things cool. GET ONE! They aren't THAT expensive. And if you're afraid the bag isn't strong enough to hold what you've got in it, maybe you've got too much in it! It's not the grocer's fault you want a bag to have 20 cans of beans in it!
Anyway, yeah. It's annoying, and lame. And that's what a cart is for, transporting many items. So stop cramming everything in as few bags as possible because you're lazy, which doesn't even totally make sense since each bag will be that much heavier. So yeah!
