Eh, even as a card-carrying submissive I prefer to be the kind of woman *I* need to be, rather than what the Bible or Collarme.com dictate 😉 I'm more comfortable when we both work and we split the duties of life 50/50; he opens doors and shovels snow and cooks, I carry babies 9 months at a time and control the finances and vaccum. Gender roles definitely make things easier as long as they truly feel natural, but they needed a good tweaking and feminism did that even if it does have it's faults (Thank you Mz. Steinem!) 🙂

I read a quote once, though for the life of me I can't remember who said it...

"The problem with feminism is while women were busy standing up for their rights, they lost their seat"

I agree that feminism did kill chivalry. Or at least strangled the living shit out of it. While I still tend to be more chivalrous than many, there are times when I easily choose not to be simply because I don't feel I need to.

I agree with the majority of what you said and the article except for defining the roles of men and women. Whatever roles you've defined for yourselves, if it works for you, that's wonderful. But if my role in a relationship is expected to be the same, then I rather be alone because I can't be what society or anyone 'expects' me to be.
